I disagree – but have no business doing so because I only have shutters. So I will tell you what I think the biggest problem – and one that I want to change in other people’s homes every time I see it is…….hang your pictures correctly! You know when they are right if standing up you are looking at the CENTER of the picture. And BTW there is no reason you can’t hang a picture below the window casing…..looks great in a bedroom.
In Josh Groban's "The Great Comet" dressing room, interior designer Mike Harrison selected this constellation artwork as a clear focal point for the room. "I loved this piece for its dimensions and colors, but also as a tip of the hat to the 'Comet' influences that I know were of importance to Josh," says Harrison. "I was searching for artwork that would tie together all of Josh's design sensibilities."

Sure, your eyes may want the most modern, chic couch in the showroom. But your back may not. "In my experience, it's really better to test out seating and take the time to look at the dimensions," says Sharon Blaustein. If you're tall, for instance, you might want to opt for a depth of between 40 to 42 inches for a sofa (rather than the standard depth of 36 inches).
I’m a little late to the party, but I just recently started watching the first season of Queer Eye on Netflix. The ladies of the OGT Team (who I lovingly refer to as “my girls”) have been telling me to watch it for months. But life tends to get in the way, as you know, so I just hadn’t gotten around to it. But I finally sat down and started it, and I’m so glad that I did! I had been warned that Queer Eye would probably make me cry (I’m a notorious crybaby), but I had no idea just how positive and uplifting the show would be as a whole! I’m head-over-heels for the Fab Five, and I feel like I’ve already picked up some useful tips and tricks from them!

A stacked fieldstone fireplace takes center stage in this family room. Rather than just a sheer wall of stone, the exposed chimney is designed with a central recess for artwork, along with tapered edges on either side, to keep it from appearing too overpowering. Sconces mounted directly to the stone are an attractive way to shed plenty of light on the antique timber mantel.
I understand the reasoning behind this decorating idea, but I have concerns about hanging very long curtains past the bottom window frames in my bedroom. Underneath our window is a heating unit that fits the width of the window (6 to 7 feet) and goes all the way down to the floor. Our home is 90 years old and has radiators, a heat pump, and whatever this thing is. Two other rooms have this heat apparatus in them as well. I don’t want the curtains to cover the heat source of the room, nor do I want them to catch… Read more »
So what is this common decor faux pas? It’s when people hang their curtains right at the top of a window frame. Bobby says, “Putting the curtains right at the top of your window makes your window look smaller and your ceiling look shorter.” It’s all about the visual effect your curtains are creating, and no one wants their room to scream small windows and short ceilings, right? Of course not! So what’s the right way to hang your curtains?

Good morning! I took the morning away from the laundry room to work in our Master bedroom. I have the room all cleaned and the bedding is placed on the bed. Still have to place all my decor pieces back into the room, but at least the bed is made. There are a lot of things I can handle in our home, but one of my pet peeves is an unmade bed. It doesn't have to be a beautifully made bed....it just has to be made!! Who is with me?
Happy Friday! I am joining in with some amazing bloggers to share some tips on organization. I don't know about you, but this is a perfect time of the year to start organizing those spots in our homes that gets a little (at my house A LOT) messed up during the year. I want to take you into our Master bathroom where I get ready and share how I organized my make-up drawer. I have a hodge podge of makeup and buy more because I can't find what I thought I didn't have. Not any longer. I went to the Dollar Tree purchased a couple of things to use. You wont believe what I used....well maybe you will. 🤪 Click on my blog link to see how I organized my makeup this morning. 😘 Have a great weekend!

I loved when you mentioned how you can change the feel of your home decor by simply replacing your throw pillows. My wife wants to give our home a different look and wants to make it so it is animal themed, so I think to throw pillows are a great way to implement this. It is always important to remember that taking the time to sit down and come up with a good plan can help you save a ton of time and money when getting new decor pieces for your home.
Keep a file of your favorite samples and inspirational images even if you can’t afford a makeover yet, or haven’t found the home of your dreams. This homeowner/designer kept all the fabric samples that she loved in a bag until she found the right home to settle in. She'd also been acquiring updated yet traditional pieces for just the kind of collected look she liked.
